Evil Empire will no longer work on Dead Cells, New Project Teased

After a nearly half-decade journey nurturing the celebrated title Dead Cells, the development team at Evil Empire has announced they are stepping away from the project. During their tenure, they were instrumental in delivering four DLC packs, 18 significant updates, and a mobile adaptation in partnership with Playdigious, marking a significant chapter in the game's history.

In a heartfelt message shared on Twitter, Evil Empire reflected on their time working on Dead Cells with fondness. They expressed deep gratitude towards Motion Twin for the trust placed in them to carry forward the game. The studio highlighted the special bond they formed with the Dead Cells community, emphasizing the joy derived from engaging with players and integrating their feedback into new content. The excitement of seeing players navigate and react to the added features, even amidst challenges and the occasional mishap like frustrations stemming from the Derelict Distillery, was particularly memorable for the team.

As Evil Empire takes a step back from Dead Cells, they are not stepping away from the gaming world. Instead, the studio is redirecting its passion and expertise toward developing new yet-to-be-revealed projects. They teased the anticipation of revealing these fresh ventures, promising to bring their unique creativity to the forefront once again.

Furthermore, Evil Empire conveyed their well-wishes to Motion Twin, expressing eagerness to see the studio's next creation, Windblown, flourish. Although they are parting ways with Dead Cells, the positive spirit and anticipation for the future remain undiminished. The gaming community eagerly awaits to see what innovative experiences Evil Empire will craft next as they venture into this new chapter of their creative journey.
